About the role.
RAW is looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join at the start of what we expect to be an industry leading team. Be a part of moulding the games for one of the most exciting new Live studio’s to appear in years. This is a senior position for a highly motivated and experienced individual with the ability to guide team members and help RAW’s develop the creative boundaries of our games to differentiate in the sea of sameness.
As a Senior Backend Developer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the backend systems that power our Live Casino platform, ensuring that it meets the high standards of quality and performance that our customers expect.
Qualified individuals are expected to be highly creative, well organised, with excellent communication skills, and have a proven track record as well as have a thirst to work side-by-side their teams creating some of the worlds greatest games.
Responsibilities.
- Design and implement scalable, robust and reliable backend systems to support the live casino platform, ensuring they are secure and performant
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including product owners, software developers, and QA engineers to deliver new features and functionality to the platform
- Ensure that all backend systems are well-documented and well-tested, and that appropriate monitoring and alerting is in place to detect and resolve issues as they arise
- Mentor and coach junior developers, helping them to grow their skills and knowledge in backend development, software engineering best practices and casino domain knowledge
Qualifications.
- Be in possession of a valid working permit to work in the EU
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend development with a focus on high-availability, high-performance, scalable and secure systems.
- Knowledge and experience of the Live Casino Game Shows, or from a similar broadcasting application (dealing with streaming, camera switching, tally lights and similar) is highly considered
- Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Java, Python or Go
- Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, and caching systems such as Redis or Memcached
- Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP, and containerisation technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including design patterns, algorithms, and data structures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Fluent in English
